With 92K on my 1995 'king, I'm planning on changing the belt drive and both pulleys this winter.   I'm going to stay with HD parts since I have some 'chrome cash' to use.  Seems like there has been a few changes in the width of the belts in recent years, so I'm thinking of going to a slightly narrower belt than my current one. (from 1.5 inches to 1.25 ?? and staying with same number of 'teeth'.  Hope to be able to go to MU85 tire from my 130 with belt guard change also)

Has anyone done this or know of the correct dimensions or years ?  Please let me know of any pro's, con's, or tips about this.

rdkng,
Fwiw, I'm running a 160 Avon Venom with the stock 1990 fxstc fender, 1.5" belt and stock front and rear pulleys.  I had to trim the belt guard, fender strut bolts, wheel hub and make some custom axle spacers spacers to get the 160 centered on the back bone of the frame (not the swingarm) and move the rear wiring harness up away from the tire.  Others trim the caliper carrier instead of the hub.  I wouldn't suggest doing all of this; although the 160 looks good.  The tire and belt rub very slightly rolling backwards, but not enough to be a problem.  My backup position, just in case there is ever a problem, is to run a narrower belt, but keep the stock front and rear pulleys.  Going forward the belt moves to the outside of the pulleys, going backwards it moves to the inside, so a narrower belt should work well with the stock pulleys.  Others may be able to comment.

I have a 150 Avon on my 97 RK and the belt clearance is no problem once you get the tire centered, I believe the smaller belt uses a different rear pulley and supposed to be stronger
You should be able to get the MU85 on with the small belt with no wheel spacing, I had the MU on before the 150, stock belt, stock spacers and only rubbed when going backwards
What's wrong with having the only Evo in the parking lot?

RDKNG,

Here is what i have changed on my 1990 FLHTC and have gobs of room now.

Used STA BO 3 bushings for a 06 swing arm, 06 belt, 06 rear pulley, o6 caliper assy, 06 axle and bushings on an 06 wheel and a MU tire. all pure bolt on stuff.

I won't run anything bigger than the MU because I run wide whites. And did I mention how much better this ol bike rides due to the new swingarm and sta bo bushings!  Would I do it again...in a heartbeat!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info.
Was it 2006 when HD went to narrower belt and pulleys on touring bikes ?
Same number of teeth on belt and pulleys from 1995 ?

I dont want to use any spacers, just want to bolt on if thats possible
(as my bike has always had a slight lean to the left since new. When I did motor, front mount, and primarys, it didnt improve, so I'm hoping rear swing arm or rear wheel alignment may help)
