On page 467 you will see A new Cam,, SE 254E and the SE255 both cans have the green light in the catalog ,,,Does this mean that you can install either cam in a 96" motor and you warranty will still be good???

The meaning of the green light icon is described at the bottom of page 462: "GO LIGHT These Screamin’ Eagle® products are 50-state street-legal for sale and use on all vehicles, including those that are pollution-controlled"

Warranty will be as good as the dealer wants it to be.
Some are good about it, some will void for not using Genuine H-D air in your tires. :teeth:

+1 what Scott said.  It shouldnt be up to the dealer, but often times is.  So, make sure you air up the tires with HD air, not syn air.  lol

My dealer said they would warranty the 103 kit and SE259e cams, even tho I installed them.  But, I have  not had a problem to make them prove it.

I like how HD says in the description that the 254 will out perform the 255 for an aggressive rider 0-60, 1/4 and top end.  Wonder what cam they will sell more of lol.

George W

I called HD Customer Service today and found out some more info about the Cams
1.If you have a HD Dealer install the Cams your Warranty is still good
2.At this time HD does NOT have a DownLoad for a 96" motor for either Cam ,, But it should be out the 1st of Nov.
I think there will be a lot of people that would like the idea of installing one of these Cams and NOT voiding there Warranty.

they say the se-254e cam will walk away from the 255.
if you use the se-254e cams let us know how you like them.
i have been thinking about the same cam for my bike

HARLEY AIR / DAMN I GOT TO GET SOME OF THAT STUFF.

I've used a dozen sets of 254s, all 103s with cometic .030head gaskets and corrected deck height- so far, no starting issues and ~105tq/95hp W/2-1s or power chamber duals & AC
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Any chance you could expand on what you mean by "corrected deck height"????

my guess is setting the deck height to 0.  Most come down in the hole a little.

bxbutch

Thumper what have you found the deck height to be on the stock 103s . Butch

rigidthumper

Most are between .005 and .0065 down since 07. I just feel better knowing that the deck height is the same as TDC- slightly anal, I'm sure.

Bob- they make a nice alternative to the 255s, without the hot restart issues I see w/255s and midwest summers. (Plus they make 8-10 more ponies, and some guys just gotta have "a little more than my friends")

So are you saying the 254's make more power everywhere, or just peak numbers?
I'm always looking for cam profiles that provide superior power below 4000 and have not had a chance to see these cams in action.
Thanks Robin,

seems with the later closing on intake to make things a bit more equal the 254 could use more compression. that would boost the tq at the same time, boost the hp? curious if a differant hg would be enough, or would slightly higher compression  pistons be in order?

the chart shows or says 254s / is it the same as the se254e ?
and do you think it would be a good cam for my 08 fxstc with pipes/ heavey breather / stage one down load /se super tuner with a dyno tune ?? i know i will have to re tune it if i add cams.
i have no plans of building the motor i just want to tweek it a little and gain little more out of the 96 cube motor. allso i want to make it sound better with cam,s

No. Not enough comp-254s work well between 10:1 &10.55:1 CR..If you want more passing  power with the stock 96, 255s work better

SE204s are a decent choice as a bolt in in a 96, and have a "'distinct'" sound at idle

does the 254 tend to be noisey?? have heard a couple of the 259 cams and they both made more clatter than i expected.

ultra 08

Say have you given a set of andrews 48h cams a look I put a set in my 08 ultra and very pleased with 90hp and 1ooftlbs torq. On my dyno run I got 90 ftlbs torq at 2145 rpms the torq goes up with the rs and does not drop below 90 until I reach 4700 rpms. Realy makes for a nice ride.
