Does anyone have any recommendations for mufflers that would be EPA legal for a 2004 FLH that has had a 95" kit with 211 cams and ported and polished heads.  I live in Denver and from what Iam reading in a lot of the mags it is just a matter of time before the Feds have a Nation wide mandate on mufflers and noise.

Bub makes EPA compliant mufflers............look good and sound good, not sure how they perform.

Check out the SE Fatshotz at your dealer (because they have the EPA stamp)and get the tuning kit with it (because they have tamper proof allen screws) then add and remove the SuperTrapp disc and endcaps for the performence and sound.

I woudn't worry too much about performance, since a $900 exhaust system might gain you only 5 HP anyway, exhaust systems performance wise are overrated, non eof them outside stock outperform any other other outside a couple HP and a few TQ.

I am using the Bub Stealth mufflers mounted on the Rinehart tru dual header pipes.
I have the AMS big bore, ported heads, 37G cams. The stealths flow as good or better than the Rineharts. I had to do some tuning after I removed the Rineharts and installed the Stealths. I really like the quieter sound especially when pulling the trailer on a long trip.

The stealths still make a pretty good sound when you get on it. I believe they are louder on my bike than they would be on a stock bike.

Cobra is a new exhaust that meets the EPA. Not bad looking.

I picked up a set of SE street legal slipons part #65115-10 and replaced the baffles with Supertrapp baffles part number 041-6517 which makes them a Superttrapp SE 65117 which is highly rated for power and sound and I still have the epa stamp.

Or you could just move to Florida............we don't give a sh*t what the feds say here............. :hyst: :hyst: :hyst:

EPA stamp law is not legal!!!!!!  Man don't give up your rights so freakin easy this is still America..  Its a flawed law in any state and you will beat the ticket if you get educated and fight it.  The next new EPA law is no motors to go over 60 mph...you down with that...

EPA  ...any agency that can claim that the air we exhale is harmful to us, should not be trusted.  Although, I do like that my SE Fatshots have the EPA stamps.   :embarrassed:

Real world facts contradict that belief but you are entitled to your opinion.  A good 2-into-1 exhaust system can add a whole lot more than 5 hp over the stock head pipes with "performance" slip-ons.

In my case a simple exhaust system change netted an additional 23HP and 8TQ.  Exhaust system only, tuned by the same tuner on the same Dyno.  Do not underestimate the value of a good exhaust system.

Doubt it very much if your bike will be affected unless its a noise regulation.  Even so, dont think anyone will have a problem if they ride with common sense.   It's the throttle jockeys that have to worry.

Not my opinion, facts I've seen on dyno charts done by professional independent magazine tests on a mule bike apples to apples exhaust to exhaust... A 23HP gain by adding an exhaust, sorry, I can't swallow that one. if you feel better spending $1k on an exhaust system because you think it makes a diff, it's your porogative and your $ go for it.

That's quite an increase for just exhaust system..........
Curious to know what KIND of exhaust system??

I think that it's entirely possible, if you look at both extremes (very bad to very good).  If one had a very crappy performing pipe (say V&H short shots 2 into 2's) and switched to a better performing pipe (say a D&D or V&H Pro-pipe or ST SM), one might see that kind of increase.   :nix:  depending on the variables that is...

Randy,
Also in the metro area and had concerns about Denver's EPA stamps. I picked up a set of the CVO 4" stock mufflers and replaced my Cycle Shacks with them. Had it dynoed before and after (retuned on the after) gave up 2-3 peak on the torque but flatened out the curve and wound up with more at the lower end (02 bagger, 95",37cams and headwork). Still have the cats in them(for now).
