cruizin down freeway bike cut out  ,ignition works , cranks over,some times it starts ,sometimes it wont ,70,000 miles changed fuel filter ,checked fuel lines ,changed crank pos sensor,    ???Help anyone.

Need to find out if your loosing fuel or spark.Next ride, take a spark checker with u,as soon as it dies pull a p/wire check for spark,If u have spark its fuel,take a can of carb cleaner with u & spray down the throttle body if it starts,Start looking for a fuel issue.(This is the diagnostic stategy we use in the automotive field).
These problems can be a pain,keep us posted.

Service manual should tell you how to pull up the codes, and what they mean. Could be anything from a bad speed sensor to junk battery to a faulty circuit breaker

have you recently made any improvements to other areas? like handlebars or grips?  does the bike have cruise control? 

If it's fuel injected, check the throttle position sensor - the throttle shaft could have broken.

I heard you can check codes on later bikes buy depressing the button on side of the speedo not so on an 02 Ill check the spark and fuell again The bike won't run at all now.and also Ill check the throttle pos sensor. Any other help?

ive got an 01fltri,m&m injection,a few years back i had the same problem,hd couldnt figure it out as it wasnt storing any codes.chased ignition switch and threw alot of money at all the sensore,finally out of desperation i changed the ecm,not a problem since,hope this helps.
