It's always interesting to see the price that an old rare part will fetch but even the not so old stuff like a stock shovel points cover the one with the American flag on it. I've seen them go for $125.00  Those were the first things to get removed and replaced with a live to ride cover. I just bought a shovel FX front fender cause it had a 82 commemorative badge on it, so I look it up on eBay, $285.00 Funny isn't it.

Exactly!  I see some parts go for outrageous amounts.  I'm thinking it's someone buying that last part he needs to finish a restoration, and will pay anything.  I've been watching for a #1 point cover (side holes) for my shovel for a long time.  FInally found one for $60 - which based on what they've been selling for, isn't a bad deal.  Ebay has made a lot more stuff available but has really driven the prices up.

I need an 82 Emblem for my FLH front fender but am too cheap to pay what I see them going for on Ebay.   Todays junk is tomorrows gold.   It wasn't too many years ago that CV carbs would sell for $20-$40  now I see them go for up to $125

No anniversary - return of the MoCo from AMF to the Davidsons and crew.  My FLH has a hole in the front fender where the '82 medallion is supposed to be, and from what I've seen them going for it will always have a hole there.

Hey Vern, your saddle bag has a saddle bag  :wtf:

The fact your bike is all together and going down the road is cool to me, Must people that have Harley's don't know what they are looking at anyway. Bikers might...guys that "have Harley's" don't care much about older bikes anyway. Hell if you have a bike with a carb. MOST HD dealership don't care about you anymore.

thanks Darrel. I've got 3 Harleys 2 Shovels and a Evo Dyna all with carbs. not as pretty and new as a twinky but lots of soul and class!

I gave away a stock CV off a '96 Fatboy (in '97) to a bro that needed a carb...wasn't worth much at the time, but I guess it's the thought that counts...or helping a fellow rider like I've been helped over the past 40 years of riding.  I remember the time I wrecked a perfectly good '76 shovel over 30 years ago and a bro showed up the next day with a box full of parts to get it back on the street....no charge and he helped wrench it.
