Prices starting out at over $23k right on up to $28k... I bet the fact they are no longer made/assembled in the US is the reason for the price increase.  So what's "all new" about them (not that I really care, that thing is the anti-thesis of my idea of what a motorcycle is anyway), I'm just stirring the pot on an otherwise uneventful Winter day.

Nice bike..........if you like Hondas.....but I don't like Hondas

Nothing against Hondas. Its just that Gold Wings remind me of a washer/dryer combo. To much like appliances. No soul. Gold Wing trikes are nice.

We owned a 1998 Wing, did not like the riding position no matter what we did.
The only reason we got the 98 was the local HD dealer said she could not get
us a Ultra by spring, so we got the wing and trailer, she saw us that next
May and saw how much money we spent then said she could get us a Ultra
pretty soon.  Told her it was too late we were leaving on a two month bike
trip the next week and already got our bike.

Got our 03 Ultra and would not ride the wing again and sold it.  Of course
a lady decided we should not ride a 03 Ultra and hit us totaling it.  But we
went back and got a 04 that fall and have not looked back.

The Goldwings are a great road bike. I owned one for 6 years in the early 90's. They are quite heavy, however. The one I had was more than 900 pounds.

As to the price, the list price on my 2004 Ultra was something like $21K. Goldwings have been more than $20K for a long time now.

Must be the hot tub and the wine cellar

I think it depends on the model and options.  A couple years ago, a dealer in East TN was selling new ones for about $16k - no nav system, just a basic wing.

When I bought my '05 Ultra I passed up a brand new '05 'Wing for $16K. It was a tough decision spending $5K more for the HD. Since then "Wing prices have been going up. I think right around '08 the stripped 'Wing passed the Ultra in price. The price range on them has been $23K-$28K for a couple years now. Don't forget, that $28K 'Wing includes stereo, intercom, cruise, just like the Ultra, and navigation, plus best of all.........an air bag!  :pop:
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

I have always wanted to try one of these boats so me and my brother are flying to Arizona next month and  we are renting a couple of new Gold Wings for seven days from Eagle Rider and cruising around the state to see the sights for a week, they were about 120 dollars more to rent then the HD touring for a week but I wanted to try something different as I have been riding HD exclusively for about 30 years, looking forward to it.

I would rather drive a car.  Seriously.

That has nothing that I ride a motorcycle for.
Got a case of dynamite, I could hold out here all night

Gold Wings have been about the same price as Ultra for several years and the new prices for 2012 are comparable to HDs same model type also.  I've owned three Gold Wings in my life all the while still owning/riding an Hd also. They have their appeal but I have always preferred the HD and haven't owned an Hd for over 10 years now.

:agree:

No interest in a wing at all.  zero.  They got no soul.  And they just don't fit me either.  I feel cramped sitting on one - my knees are right up almost against the lower fairing area.

When HD pizzed me off a couple years ago I bought  a beautiful 07 Wing.  Yeah it had plenty of torque and zip but as has been stated no soul.  One of the most uncomfortable bikes I have ever owned.  Knees up against the fairing and you have to sit like your at the dinner table.  No place to put your feet up and you can't slouch or get laid back in the seat.  No real place for hwypegs and no after market handle bars.  If you like sitting like you got a broom stick some where then it would be a fine bike.  When I blip the throttle on my bike I got a bike, when I blipped the throttle on the Wing it was like clicking the dryer on and off.
07 Ultra in my favorite color.
Retired and loving it--no I ain't bored!!!

yeah,I don't think I could actually stand owning one of these tanks ,couldn't imagine waking up in the morning and looking out in my shop and seeing that ugly lump sitting there ,so I figure the best way to try one is to rent one and then when you are done you can give it back.

Me either...I doubt very many dancers, :smilep: bartenders, or Waffle House waitresses :embarrassed: follow guys out to their Goldwing to see if they can get a ride... :bike:

Everyone has their own standards....

I have a Harley and a Wing. Both have their pros and cons and I enjoy riding them about equally. I will have to say that when I ride the Wing most of the Harleys I see are in the rear view mirrors.

Dennis The Menace

Odotb, then take off the pictures of Harleys taped to your mirrors.  lol

CDeucer

...or maybe because nobody wants to ride next to a fat ugly bike with some old fart riding solo with the stereo blaring accordion music and the HOG rider has some hottie on the back making promises in his ear! (for the benefit of my brother, a wing owner)  :hyst:

That's a point that some folks forget. The Goldwings are pretty fast.  :pop:

Well, if you compare GW 1800cc to 1800cc (SE CVOs), the power numbers are very close.  Yea, they're noticably quicker than the standard 96" ers, but their giving up 14 cubic innches too...

Don't get me wrong. I love my HOG but you are comparing apples and oranges when you compare an HD to a Gold wing. They are two completeiy different varieties of motorcycles.

The Goldwing with its overhead cams, liquid cooling and 6 cylinders is capable of sustained high speed on the road without overheating. I'm talking 90-95 mph all day, if you want. They are very smooth at those speeds as well. You can do that on a Harley-Davidson I guess, but it won't be much fun.

I still prefer a harley-Davidson but you need to make proper comparisons. As I say, they are two different machines for two different types of riders.
