Was going for a ride and no tail light at all, running or brake lights. Upon investigation it turned out to be the light assy itself since jiggling it made come on and off. Turns out there is a plug that connects the light bar and the power board together internally.  Over 4 years the solder popped off since the two units are not connected to each other and are held together only by this very short and rigid plug connection. Decided this was bs and soldered two small wires in place to add flexibility between the two and heaved the mickey plug unit. Worked slick as snot.
Problem is getting the silicone bonded lense off to get access to the boards and not damage the unit. Eventually got it  but the whole proccess took like 3 hours of pissing around. Then again these things are damn expensive to replace and it would have the same flaw.
Just thought I'd pass it on that they can be repaired if needed, at least with this type of failure.

Good design inside except for the bar to power connector. More for production than long life as it comes. Probably two different suppliers and parts joined at assembly. Direct looped soldered wires solves it. Years ago I read several failures on these but most were blamed on water getting inside but there's no way to get water into this sealed unit. Most likely the rigid solder connection failed on them as well.
