Does someone make a heel/toe shifter that will fit on my forward controls on my 02 Dyna low rider? It seems like the heel shifter will hit the casing .

tomcat64

heel toe shifters are supposed used wth floor boards,, if you convert to FB's you might be able to make it work..

Last July, I pinched my nerve in my back , and as the result I have a drooping left foot, or drop foot. I thought that if I had a temporary heel/toe shifter, I could shift until my nerve that controls my drooping left foot heals.

Try this........http://www.deweyspegs.com/products.html#heelhammer

Are you going to bump the shifter with a droop foot?
wasting time

camel

Yes, Fatboy that's what I need, it is made to fit the Dyna with forward controls, and the heel portion does not hit the left case. I wonder if he sells that product now? I can down shift, but not up shift, since my foot does not go up. Thanks for the info

It's doable.  I used the shifter shaft from a Heritage Softail (PN 33668-90C) and the shift lever from a Sporty turned upside down on my '01 FXDWG.  All the rest of the parts are stock.  I think HD changed the Dyna frame in '02, so the part number I gave you might not work, you might have to hunt around to find another shaft that'll fit.  I also had to hog out the inside of the Sporty lever a bit to make it fit over the Softail shaft, but when you tighten down the bolt which holds it in place, the lever doesn't move.
edit: forgot to mention, I also ground down the side of the Sporty leverl that sits against the forward lever to make it all fit.

Yep,  dynaglide you did a good job, I thought about doing that, but I can't fit two levers side by side without griding the levers down a lot to fit the spline. Looks like the sporty lever is short enough not to hit the left casing. Your photo also shows that you do not need a floorboard with a heel/toe shifter...mahalo for sharing

You will like the Deweys' heelhammer shifter.  I had one on my 2004 Superglide for a couple of years and worked out very well.  A quality piece and took about 10 minutes to install.  I can post  a  few pictures of the shifter on my FXD if you want to see how it looked installed.

I thought I'd heard that Dewey wasn't making the heel hammers anymore...that would be good if he still is.

Hey DGlide04 , do you still have Dewey's Heel Hammer? Want to sell it? Because I emailed Dewey, and he said he didn't have anymore, I'm hoping he will start making them again. He said that Harley makes a heel/toe for Dynas, but I'm not sure if it will fit on forward controls.

madjack

Camel, check out www.nuwayshifter.com, I've had this on my bike for 2 yrs, absolutly love the the damn thing

camel

madjack, for some reason my computer can't find that nuway shifter site. Is there another web address I can use to find it? thanks

madjack

DGlide04

camel,

Sorry, I don't have the FXD anymore and didn't keep the heelhammer, but I loved it while I had it.  I hope you find a good alternative.

Mahalo Madjack for the web site, I emailed them to see whether it will fit my bike...mahalo again, camel

Camel,

I thought of something that might work for you...take a shifter rod lever (33849-97) and your oem shift lever (probably 34564-90A) and weld them together.  They are both solid steel
pieces that should weld together nicely.  Previously, I tried welding a Sportster shift lever to my stock shift lever but the Sportster piece is cast aluminum and they wouldn't weld properly.  I'm
about to try this out myself so I'll let you know how it goes.

OK Scoopfraserit, it looks simple enough. I guess I have to look around for some steel shifters. Mahalo again, camel

I don't know why someone doesn't make a heel toe shifter that would be a universal fit for Harleys that don't come standard with one.  Looking around for one, I see a huge demand and no product.
