Best choice for 2007 FLTR:

-Gold Brake Pads
or
-Z  Plus Brake Pads

Thanks for suggestion.

The newer improved version of the Z-Plus compound has a channel or (gas slot) running down the middle which is an improvement over the original ones. If you ride quite frequently in the rain,  get the Gold Plus compound, as it is the superior pad for wet weather riding. The Z-Plus was originally designed for general street riding, not extreme conditions found in bad weather. Lyndall has great customer service and if you contact them they will hook you up with the pad that best fits your riding conditions.

If you tell them you heard about them here on HTT, I believe they will give you a discount on the price.

Alek:

Tried the Gold+ on the '07 Ultra last year and had some faint/minor squealing coming to a stop.  Paul at Lyndall suggested tring the Z+.  I did, and they have worked perfectly!

Highly recommend you remove the Calipers and clean pistons per Lyndall's web site tech help regardless of which pad you decide to use.

+1 for the Z plus pads.
I am getting ready to order up my 3rd set. The main thing I like about them besides the great stopping power is the way they polish the rotor, leaving no galling and a nice smoothe shiny surface and their relatively long life.

I 2nd the pistons cleaning while changing brakes. Also a tip is to use a heavy boot lace soaked in brake cleaner. Use it like dental floss on pistons.  Look under Sir Garfield tips for pixs.

Have the Lyndall pads on my '95 Ultra. They work great and I rarely have to clean the whitewall tires. The stock HD pads would deposit dark grey brake dust over the wheels and tires so the whitewalls always looked dirty after about 100 miles.

Does anyone know their performance with a chrome rotor?

Z Plus for me. Loved em.

Tried the Lyndall Z plus on my '11 RK police bike. I preferred the HD pads after after having the Lyndall Z's on for about 10k miles. Two points... for some reason they seemed to squeal a lot only when backing out of my driveway. No squeals during regular riding though unless I heated them up good with repeated emergency braking stops from 90+ mph during escorts.

I had a noticeable increase in braking distance when riding in wet weather vs the HD pads. Some increase in braking distance can be expected in wet weather but this was very significant, way more than normal. I really had to take it easy in the rain on these brakes. Having tried the stock pads and the Lyndalls i decided to get a full set of pads for $39 from d2moto.com just as a comparison. I have about 3k on them now and I truthfully cant say they are any worse than the other pads I had. I guess time will tell.

andre3k ,

The squealing maybe a couple of things. First, did you clean the setup good enough? I had to do mine twice once. Use a little bit of anti squeal grease on the back of the pads where the pucks rde, the pins and the anti rattle clip. It seemed to me that the pins were the culprit. As for the increase in braking distance, that's a first for me. Mine stop extremely well, dry and wet and in my opinion far better to stock. I have the stock rotors. Sure you didn't contaminate the rotor  and or pad surfaces? Easy to do.

Yes, chrome rotors and no problems whatsoever. No sqeaking, no dust, no problems. Performed flawlessly. Like I said, love em.

I used an entire can of brake cleaner for both calipers and then let them dry real good. Didn't use the anti squeal grease because it never mentioned it in the service manual so I never bothered trying it. I will pull them off and try the grease on the brakes i have now.
