I need a new rear tire on my road glide. I would like to go a little wider than the the D402 MU85B16 / 140/85R16 that is on there now.

Does anyone know of any issues putting a Dunlop D206 170/70R16 on this bike? Looking at the specs and taking mesurements, It seems like it should fit with a quarter inch of fender and belt clearance.

The main concern, I guess, seems to be rim width

from a 140cm to a 170cm is about a 1-1/4" wider.. on a 3 in. wide rim, I don't think it's a good idea. I would go 150cm max on that rim plus it fits with no issues. Just a thought.

150 will fit fine, wouldn't try anything wider with that rim. Also 2 uploaded could be a problem with anything wider than the 150.

Don't know what year bike you have. I have an 07FLHP. Was running an MU85-16 402. Just replaced it with the 160/80HB-16 Elite 3. No fitment issues whatsoever. Life is good.

I've got an 03 Roadking, with Michelin Commander II 150's no problem.

The width of the rim limits you to tire size in addition to clearance.
The 150 is about it with the stock rim. And it just fits as long as you have the narrow belt and remove the belt guard.
Trimming it didn't work for me.

Ex, I ran Avon 150 on my 07 RG.  But, measure, measure, measure.  A 150 on a Dunnie is not a 150 on an Avon, or a Michelin, or .......  Nature of the beast, they all vary somewhat.  Measure to be certain of actual tire width dimension.

Also, on topic of measuring, I assume you have measured the rim to belt clearance?  That is the tightest spot back there, and you want the tire far enough away from it so the two never meet!

I've run 150 Metz, and Avon with no problems. Currently run a 150 Avon on a custom wheel, 1/2" wider than the stock wheel. No trimming, no rubbing.

I am running the 150 E111 on my 06 RG no fitment problems and yes it looks better sitting there. Can't see it when riding but the handling is so much better than the 402. Comander 11  150/80 looks real good also, it is a little wider than the E111 and Michelin says it will work on a 3" to 4" rim with 3.5 " preferred

I want to thank those that took the time to answer this thread. After careful consideration I opted to go with a Dunlop 402 in 150/80/16 mounted and installed for $210.94 . Thanks again ExFed
