Hi Gang!

I'm shopping for some parts for my 2003 RK Police.
My mechanic needs a cam instal. kit when he replaces the tensioners.
Can someone tell me the difference between the '03 and the '07 that makes the '03 kit cost THREE times as much?

I can get the chain drive kit for the '07 and newer for around $25, while the one for the '03 runs $80 or more!

I'm curious!

More parts for the earlier motors = more cost.

(Includes gasket, inner bearings, outer bearings and snap ring)

2007 & '06 Dyna Gear Drive Installation Kit: Part# 216901
(Includes gasket, inner bearings and snap ring)

YUP! I see that now.
Still seems like an unreasonable price diff. for two more bearings and a snap ring.

Just gotta pay up I guess! :emoGroan:
Thanks for the info.

I think that Andrews 288901 kit is the inner/outer bearing kit for the 99-06 BUT, I believe that kit is only for switching to gear drive.

I'd like to find a similar kit for someone keeping all the stock chain drive stuff on the 99-06. I've looked around a bit and have never found one. That's all I'm lacking, that and the shim/spacer kit to set cam depth/endplay.
Not sure if I'll need new tensioners at 8K miles, but I suppose HD is the only source for those?

Not sure of the price.  It is a pad and pin replacement.  You use your stock tensioner and change out the pin and pad.  They also sell a tool to assist in the replacement, but I'm sure it can be done without the tool.

They are about 6 dollars each. I have installed 3 sets and about to do another this week. They work great and are a great value compared to the harley replacements. If you need any help with them let me know.

Did you buy the install tool or do it differently?

I think you can save a few bucks by buying just what is needed for the job individually. The kit has two sets of inner bearings and other left overs. The tensioners have to be bought separately anyway.Worth a look.

I bought the installation tool. Think it was about $20. Very easy to use.

Heck, the tool is $20 then it is still cheaper than buying two new tensioners.  Might be good just to have on hand.

I don't know, but consider the Fuel Moto cam install kit for $50.  It includes the Torrington inner bearings, too.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the tips and the parts sources.
They will be a great help to me.
