Merc, No idea what they are really called.  In answering the original post, I used the term valley & peaks because visually it makes it easy to know what I was talking about.  Ditto on the term Mongo spring.  It is not really called a Mongo Spring, but when describing something Mongo has a special meaning to guys.  If you say she has big boobs, guys all go Yup, she does.  Say she has Mongo Boobs and their eyes glaze over, heartrates increase, blood rushes away from the brain.

A compensator is a person with a Harley.

What they do is pay a dealer to replace the part which is clunking on the front of the motor.

Thus compensating him for the work.

I didn't know much about compensators until I had one come apart.  Rebuilt it, replaced the outer primary cover it destroyed, got smarter by necessity.    Marty
