Well I did my good deed of the year. My wife's car is in the body shop getting a new paint job and some hail repair. The painter is an old friend of mine. He's painted all of the bikes that I built. He called me up the other day asking about replacement saddlebag locks for a customers bike that they are painting. Seems somewhere in the shop they lost them. They are thinking that someone in the shop cleaned up and threw them in the garbage.
Anyhow... I told him I could order some repops but they are flimsy junk, he said that the bike gets ridden a bunch so I told him to stop by the house I have a set. I dug through my shop and all I found was the repop junk. SO I removed the locks off of Betsies bags and handed them to him. (Somewhere in that shop is another set of real bag latches)
Another buddy who stops at my shop fairly regular has a CNC plasma cutter and can reproduce just about any flat piece I can ask for. I handed him a repop latch and asked if he could make me a couple of them.
I'm gonna get a few of them since it's cheaper to make more in one cutting than if he has to set the machine up again. I'm thinking about a dozen sets or so.
Anyone need a set of new saddle bag locks n latches? Real American steel with the usual locks!

Which bags would these be for?  I need one for my 80 FLT.  I can get pics or maybe you could post a couple so you don't get more questions like this?  I pulled the latch off of my Tour Pak because I got a new lid for it and tried retro-fitting it to the saddle bag lid, but when I tried to bend the "finger" it broke off.  Not as good of a fit as I would like.

Rain, these are for the older saddlebag latches. I think the one you are referring to are the longer latches with the 45 degree bend in them. They can still be had from the dealer, no need to order a repop. They used them on almost all of the Evo and early Twinkie Police bags as well as all of the King Tourpacs.

Well Easy, I wish I could say that they can still be had from the dealer, but they cannot.  My right saddlebag lid took a leave of absence from me twice; the second time it didn't reappear and I now know why, but it's gone.  I was able to find another at a swap meet without the underside latch and figured that possibly I could pull the latch from my old tour pak lid, but it doesn't quite fit (it'll work in the interim).  The Tour Pak has 2 holes where the saddlebag has 4 and is quite a bit longer.

I should have posted yesterday, but I have the new latches on my desk at the shop. I'll take a couple of pics and if these will get you what you need, I got them. He made them out of stainless so they are WAY tougher than stock.

It's 7:30 am here, and I'm in the Eastern Time Zone, and Not Sure what You would be there, BUTT, I'll ASS U ME It's Still a Little Early Yet..... LOL
I'd like to get a Peak at them, and Possibly buy a set for a Good Friend of mine that has a 73 FLH, and Just Late last year, (I Was there when he did it) Opened his Last Brand New out of the Package Latch Hook assembly, and I KNOW he has None left now. So, IF I can get a Pic. of them, I Just might do him a Christmas Present!

OK Finally got my head out my butt and remembered. You'll have to fine tune the square to fit your locks but here they are. I'll do them at $5 a set for those who are interested.

EDIT:Ok I posted this in a hurry. The one on the right is the cheap China repop that couldn't hold a paper bag shut. The one on the left is the stainless steel latch hook that my friend made for me.

Brother Easy, I Just got home from the Hospital about 1:30 Yesterday Afternoon, and You were the First Person I Thought about.
Has The "Envelope" Arrived Yet? I Spoke with him this morning, (Just to Double check what he said) AND, Just to be 100% SURE he'd sent it for me, and he said Yes, he Did. So, Now I'm just wondering if it has gotten there yet, that's all. Just Curious  I Guess, that's all. Once I get Mobile, I'm Going to wrap them up and Give them to Stewy for Christmas! LOL
