Hello,
Does anyone have high beam problem with truck-lite phase 7 head lamp.

Mine worked normally 50 miles and then the high beam Dashboard light began to flicker and then lit...  (as I was on low beam (switch))

It happens hazardously, no effet on bumpy road, correct electricals connections, ....  the highbeam opens self with no reasons... and sometime shut off...

Someone can help me?   I do think it's probably the low dram amp that causes such misfunction of light.  what do you think?

Too late for warranty? Where did you buy it?

Check the stock MoCo headlight plug where it connects to the Trucklite connection, and be sure it hasn't overheated and melted.

What John said, and if not, plug the old light in, does it act the same?

hello,

I buy it on eBay...  seems working correctly.

As I put the OEM headlight ....no problem...

I have tested current at the H4 connection they doesn't seems to be melted...   but there is no soldering betwenn wires and metal...  only pressed.

with oem...  everything ok...  12.8v on lowbeam,  nothing on highbeam
with trucklite 12.8v on low  beam and 9,5v on highbeam port (swicht on low beam), and 12,8v on highbeam port (switch on higbeam)
with a simple 5w marker connected only on low beam wires an ground...  12.5v on low beam and 9,5v on highbeam port as nothing is connected (switch on low)

it seems thaht the bike delivers a amount of current on high beam wire as there is no suffisant amp draw in low beam...

I wondered if dealer doesn't make ECM modification when installing led light...  see this

I have a Phase 7 light for many months now, and I don't have that issue. So there's nothing other than to plug it in to be done.

Try plugging it into another bike.

Hello,

I have tried to plug it in a 2012 dyna... nothing happens...  seems to work correctly.  But never rode with the dyna and the truckllite.  (at the beginning the TL 7 worked correctly before I rode several miles... on the RK)

Now if I pull the TL7 off the RK the dashbord highbeam light is a little lit...  if I put highbeam swicht on, it lit a normal way...
The more interresting is: if I put (a this time mentioned up) the OEM halogen lamp, the dashbord HB light stop and the entire system work correctly.

I think, but I not god (that's why I ask help ) that if it was the bike having shortcut (damaged wire, ... bad connection, ....) the problem would be permanent?... (with the led lamp or the hallogen headlight)?
what do you thing?

Buying off eBay doesn't always make sence to save a buck. Now u need a warranty claim, good luck w/that 1.  :fish:

Think it's in your high/low switch. Does your bike see water often? Salty air? That flickering dash lamp is indicating a high resistance short somewhere, I'm guessing switch or 3 prong HL plug inside nacelle.

Exactly.

Or monitor voltage on each leg, my bet's a shorted headlight that would also light the dash light.

Buying off eBay isn't so bad, many many righteous vendors on there that do the right thing, that's why there is a rating system and feedback but back to the OP issue.....
Have you had your switch blocks apart or your tank off recently yaku? A pinched wire there can cause intermittent faults, going by your description I am suspecting an electrical issue rather than a fault with the TL7.
Just because its said don't make it so

hello everybody,
Sorry for late reply but I had somes life problems...

Back with my headlight (TL7) problems...

The bike was gone to the Hd dealer who change Hi-low knob and verify connections.   The problems seems gone off  until several hundred miles...  it began again to flicker... :banghead:

It take two or three months (and a lot of mails) to acheive the Trucklite reseller accept to send me another new headlight.
The box was different and the rear side feel like anodised alu instead of black plastic (old one).  H4 connector seems better and electrical grease was in the box.

I put it on the bike and it worked correctly +-500 miles.   :sheep:

Now, the problem seems different  If I switch the bike on ignition, the headlight lit on hig beam...  I started the bike and +-30 sec or 1 minute later, the highbeam stop and every thing work correctly  including on bumpy roads...
If I shut the bike and restart it immediatly (-30sec)  the headlight work correctly.
If i wait more than that, the headligtht lit again...  and stop after somes miles or seconds...

I really doesn't understand what the source of this "misfunction".   I read the box and see that the operating current must be between 9v and 33v...  so it couldn't be a regulator problem, isn't it???

What do you think...

I had better buy a genuine headlight :bike:

Try contacting Truck-Lite, believe their head light has a 3 year warranty on it.

IronMike113

I would be looking at the bike wiring it self, JUST SAYIN
2 Bikes and 2 Beemers, that's what I have been told 😳

pumpguy68

:agree: there's something goin on with the bike/wiring
I've had my truck lite for 2.5 yrs no issues except for a loose plug and that was my fault.
Op doesn't say what year model bike that may help others to figure this out
