I just picked this up for what I believe to be a very good price. Totally original (except pipes) factory built rig. Anybody know if there is any collectors value in it. 56,000 miles, runs great, need some wheel bearings and tires, got a couple road chips in the paint. Other than that it is in great shape.

I just looked it up on KBB. Their prices are for what you could expect a dealer to have it on the floor for. It's based on the bike being in top condition with no repairs needed, and totally roadworthy. http://www.kbb.com/motorcycles/harley-davidson/flhtc-electra-glide-w-sidecar/1985-harley-davidson-flhtc-electra-glide-w-sidecar/suggestedretailvalue/

It's not excellent but I would say once I put tires and wheel bearings on it it will be in very good condition . NADA says $9,785.00 in very good and $16,060 in excellent. I don't know if they take into consideration any collectors value and I don't know if there is any. The KBB and NADA seem up there for an 85 maybe it's the sidecar.
Thanks a lot,
SR

My opinion is not yet, but eventually should be. Around here the bike is worth 4500 and sidecar might be worth 3000-3500. If you split em up to flip be sure to remove the sidecar attachment bits and pieces from the bike. The hack is worth more with them or they have value separately.
Nice rig BTW!

Wow, she looks nice IMO.
I always wanted one to try.
Somehow I think you'll put it in top condition.
Good luck with the new ride.

Harley stopped making sidecars in 2010.  They seem to be harder to find recently. This is becoming evident now by the number you see for sale on places like ebay. The vintage you have fits many years. The sidecar alone is now fetching up to $5000 in nice shape and complete.

From what I see they're kinda all over the place. Like anything the right bike/right guy/right place will bring a good price, but it's not a collector market.

Well said, The top dollar comes from someone that has a reason to buy - maybe age disability or grandchildren  . Some would rather attach a rig to their present ride than spend big $ for a Triglide.

Yup! I just set up my wife's new street glide with the sidecar off my '90.

My wife is too short to ride a big twin (or any full size motorcycle). The sidecar gives her freedom to ride and when her and her girlfriends do 10 day road trips, freedom to shop  :hyst: :hyst: :hyst:. We have a trip planned in a month with our preteen grand daughters and that will be a gas too. It'll be about memories for them.

Beautiful Rig !!
Congrats
I'd ride a hack over a trike anyday

You can't help but smile when a sidecar goes by.
Nice setup.

ask if it's because of their haircut

It is different to ride would take some getting used to. A lot different than even a trike.

Thanks for all the responses.

I am in no hurry to sell it. I don't have much in it. May keep it for a while. Thanks
