Most of you have been real helpful in the past so here's another question.

I'm getting a lot of pulsation in the front brakes when I pull up to a light. I've had one rotor replaced because it was warped and now have another. I know from racing that floating rotors do not suffer that pulsating feeling.

What is the general feeling about the HD Classic Black floating rotors? Are they worth the buck? I'm 6'5" and 350# and I tow a trailer. Is there a better pad than the HD's?

I run Thunderstar floaters from HD and I'd say they perform well, there are better discs.  Lyndall makes great pads, they also make rotors.  The pads are worth the money, the rotors are too, just not in my budget.  Many folks here run Lyndall Racing Brakes, call and mention HTT and get a discount.  Both Pauls are good folks !

I put the classic chrome floating rotors on the front of my 05 FLHTI. It did get rid of the pulsating feel. The stock rotors are just to weak IMHO.

I am using the basic black floaters and LRB pads and they give excellent feel/braking with no pulsating.  Stock rotors were shot early on and I replaced them at like 18,000 miles. I have ~47,000 on the floaters and still not warped.

I put a set of HD floaters on my Ultra and like them, stock pads.
As far as I can tell all the floaters are the same, other than the center, so buy what you want, but the lower priced HD rotors will work as good as the higher priced HD rotors!
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

Thanks guys. I'm riding from fort lauderdale tomorrow morning to Seminole in Sanford 286 miles north to save $90 cause my local dealer wont give me that much break. To bad for him. Anyone in SoFla want to ride up with me?

Not sure who Jenni is, presumably someone at LRB, Can't afford the high end as much as I'd like.

I had the HD floating rotors and suffered with the side to side scraping that I never could get out.  I went with non-floating EBC rotors and all my problems were eliminated.  I'll never use the HD floaters again.

I got the floaters on my 06 SG and had them on the 01 Ultra. HD ones. DOn't know what they are called, black with holes in it. Anyways they work great with stock pads. Now I can feel the back is warped a little. Not enough to care yet.

I been running the black floaters for about a year now and they've worked great. Just as a side note. About 3 years ago I put a new rear caliper and it wasn't centered properly. heated up my rear floater so bad it was glowing red. Never warped though and it's still being used on my son's bike. I liked my black floaters enough that I replaced the back one with a matching rotor.

...I purchased the black floating rotors over the winter (the ones with all the holes in them), was waiting to replace the front tire before I swapped the rotors out.  Got the tire replaced and was in the process of replacing the rotors when I found out the inner most hole (closest to the axle) caused an undesired opening on my wheel hub (FLHT wheel), you could see inside the wheel hub, not good. Anyways, I returned them, and while doing so noticed there were a number of used bikes on the showroom floor that had that exact style rotor, but they had a black plastic filler piece that covered these holes from exposing the inner hub on the wheel, are these extra?  Why don't they come with the new black rotors.  Just a heads up...

Bakon

Had the same hole from the center hub when they were on the stock Streetglide front rim. I liked it. Made it a machine look. Would not have used it with a plastic spacer even if it came with it. No mechanical problems with the holes, purely cosmetic.

Well I got them put on today. My first concern was that the floaters are about 1/2" larger in diameter than the stockers. Called the stealer and he assured me that would not be a problem, so I proceeded to put them on. Took the old pads out of the calipers collapsed the pistons back into the calipers, and and put the calipers in place on the rotors and put the top bolt in just to hold things together whilest I placed the pads in. First the ioutside then the inside. No problem except once I tightened up the caliper bolts the damn wheel wouldn't spin. I went ahead and did the other side as well. reached up and pumped the front brake a couple times which was spongy, until it firmed up. I couldn't move the bike. I was able with some back and forth to get it to move, but reluctantly. I had a lot of rubbing and noise as I rhode around the parking lot.

Then I realized that I needed to bleed off some of the fluid that had just been topped off at the 50K service. As soon as I pumped out a couple shots of fluid the brakes relaxed and all the rubbing went away. Haven't noticed any real difference yet but I only went up the block and back. and I guess they take a little time to seat in.

What I did realize immediately was the pulsating it gone when using the front brake at slow speed. I love it.
