Just ordered a rear head pipe from Zanotti, beat my local dealer price by 30.00 dollars. Shipping was 12.00 dollars.

Just ordered a bunch of stuff from Lakeshore, over $500.00 worth. No shipping charges and most things cheaper than Zanotti's. We'll see how their service is.

Suburban HD, in Theinsville, WI.
New Rochelle HD, in NY
American Classic Motors

All have stores on ebay - I have consistently gotten good deals on oem and aftermarket stuff from these three.

I've placed 4 orders with them this year and all have been great experiences. The latest order I placed early this week and all the parts except 1 showed up via UPS yesterday, excellent service in my book. They had to order 1 part from Harley, out of about 10 different things I ordered.

Well thanx for the heads up about Lakeside...I was a Zanotti's fan until they wanted $70 for shipping on a $1500 order.... Lakeside with free shipping beat Zanotti's by more then $50....I
e-mailed and called Lakeside leaving a message and got a return call in less then 10 minutes...I'm impressed.....so now I wait and see how things progress from here.....

I'm always up for a deal. So after visiting LSHDs website I noticed that their page does not have the ability to order part directly on it.  Are you required to call and place your order?  I would much rather place an order on the internet as you can tell by the time stamp on this message, Ain't no dealer open at this time.  Just saying.

Unless something has drastic has changed since June with Zannoti's, the most I paid for shipping on my recent 11 Streetglide build was $35, two orders were over 1k.

The same orders thru two other HD dealers (Chicago and surdyke) were 5-7% more expensive on the sale, I don't recall their shipping rates.

Tre......I was a bit skeptical too at first about LSHD's website thats why I called and sent an e-mail before placing my order....Bill Sparks at LSHD called me right back and had a good conversation with him about my order....and he sent a follow up e-mail along with his cell # in case of any problems.....thats when I placed my order....don't get me wrong as I've done plenty of business with Zanottis and never had any problems just that LSHD had a better deal by a little more then $50 on my $1500 order.....

I just punched in a cylinder head and Zanottis was $60 less

I ordered a King Tour pak with  de-tach plate, back rest pad, luggage rack and a new seat and few other goodies for my Streetglide....Zanotti's was cheaper by a few bucks but add on the shipping cost and LSHD was cheaper....

This is exactly what I am talking about concerning Zanottis.  you look at the price using their online search tool and the price is really good.  you order the part and get this HUGE shipping charge.  I called them about it and the guy told me they ship UPS, and the HUGE charge was for the shipping and HANDLING, and getting a box and packaging, etc.  turns out the item I was ordering was a carb slide, the final cost was MORE than it would have been paying the retail cost at my local HD dealer including the taxes!  I dont think Zanotti's used to be like this before.

I have used surdyke in the past as well, but on every order they screwed it up in some way.  Turns out the lady doing the job got pregnant and had a backup person filling orders.  It took several calls and weeks to get my order.  I was told the package had shipped only to find out later it did not.  more calls finally got it out.  I was told I would receive a free T-shirt for the inconvenience... ha... the shirt never arrived.. It would have made a nice shop rag to clean up the spilled oil when do those 2500 mile oil changes.....

I am still looking for a good source of genuine HD parts that can be ordered on the internet.  If you have any good experiences with sources that offer a good price and reasonable shipping charges, please let us know.

Does anybody know if Jenny is still selling parts and what her number might be.... :hyst:

Xanadu,

Give the guys at Hale's HD a call, or log-in to get 20% off everything online!

If the part doesn't come up in their current catalog, you'll have to call them,
but they've become the only online H-D Dealer I use anymore.

thanks zamboni, but have you checked their shipping charges?  this is what my big complaint is all about.  they offer the great piece part prices, but intentionally jack up the shipping charges to get the money back.

I've had minimal shipping charges thru Hale's... a lot of times when I call, they'll just give me a round number too, like "six bucks" or how does "Ten dollars sound?"  And these were for relatively big $ items.

Recently, I haven't had too much to order.... here it is, Winter in MN, and I'm without a project!!

Pretty sure this thread can die a graceful death as far as Zanotti's is concerned.  I see their website is still up, but I'm pretty sure they sold back their HD franchise around the end of December.  They may still be selling off any inventory the MOCO would not take back, or personalized stuff like dealer logo'ed shirts, but other than that I think the doors are closed or about to be closed for good.

Lakeshore Harley, shipping and parts prices are pretty comparable to Zanotti and they ship quick.

Also the Zanotti website has an inventory of stuff for sale online, picked up a new drive belt and some 4.9 injectors cheap.

I just thought I would mention that there will be fewer and fewer dealers if we insist on sending our money off to wherever instead of supporting local businesses.  I travel a lot and am always glad to see a H-D dealer logo out there.  Also local busineses provide jobs to fellow local bikers.  I personally always buy locally from the dealer or Indy unless there is a giant reason not to.  You can't have a local biker community if you refuse to do your part.

I agree it is good to support the local dealer but should not the local dealer support me too after all I have purchsed two new bikes from him? On small items I don't shop around but on larger items I shop around.  Local dealer won't discount even 5 or 10%  So say I am spending $500 or more then 20% is a big chunk of money that I save. Anythinig over about $100 purchase I shop around.  When I get ready to make a purchase of $100 or more I will often ask the dealer to meet me half way between what I can mail order it for delivered and what he is asking.

Yep, my local dealer won't budge on prices and sells everything over MSRP. So I'm in the process of building a new engine and going through the bike replacing anything worn. Will have at least $4k into it, I can buy from LSHD1 for at least 25% less than the local dealer, for that kind of money he can go out of business. If he'd work with me he'd make money and I'd stay local, instead he gets nothing, I don't even waste time stopping in on Saturdays to eat his stale donuts and bad coffee.

my local dealer is a thief.   For gaskets, spark plugs, etc he marks them up 30-40%.  I refuse to get ripped like that.  I can't wait till he goes out of business.

justplainjim

The local dealers have the same option as Zanotti, LSHD, and the others.  If they want to sell parts for MSRP or more then screw them.

Am I the only one who heard that Zanotti's is closing?
