got one that just whines when you hit the starter button. I put new contacts in it and the selinoid is kicking the starter gear out into the ring gear. Has to be the starter clutch I figure. I've had it about 2 years and I emailed all-balls and they said send it back and they will send me a new one. guess I finally found another  american who isn't trying to screw another american........getting to be fewer of them every day.

Yeah All Balls is a good company. I've had issues with some of their other products in the past and they were very helpful. Great customer service. Been running their starters for years as well as their wheel bearing kits.

Hey Monty, I had a great experience with J&P. I bought a new speedo for an FLH dash. One with a tach in it. I hooked it up and all it wanted to do is cook. The thing had a dead short in it somewhere. I called J&P of course, and they sent me a new one two day mail without even a return. They said they didn't want to hang me up. I'll tell you brother, that sort of service is a just what we need.
We should start a thread about good and bad places to get stuff.

yeah, when that starter went south, I bought another used high performance high torque all balls starter off ebay for $30. I got it to work after I swapped out the starter shaft that the jack shaft screws into. I needed one that was set up for the smaller jackshaft bolt. the ebay starter was set up for the bigger jackshaft bolt. the ebay starter works great. No issues....I decided the 180+ lbs of compression was the cuprit. Now that I have the short duration cam it's got to be taking a toll on the starter clutch. I pulled out the duel plugs and now I'm running 2 plugs and 2 compression releases.  Sure makes a difference on those cold morning when that sucker kicks over slow with that 60 wt oil. I may have crossed the line this time. that Leineweber cam is sooooo loud and soooooo bad I am beginning to wonder if its just too loud and too bad. I'm afraid people may think I got a little d---.  My son came riding up yesterday after he took it for a spin and it sounded like John Force coming down the street. I think I got something that will probably attract the law now. Thank god I quit drinking.......I kept getting overserved....so I quit.
