2020 rear axle cam design

I thought I had read somewhere that H-D changed the cam design on the rear axle to help stop it from loosening up. Anybody else hear anything on this? Is so I wonder if it fits older models.

Yes, it changed for the 2020 models. I don't know if it will it fit older models.

You could compare part numbers from your year to the 2019 and see if they are the same. I don't believe the swing arm changed so as long as the axle part numbers are the same from yours to the 2019 I would bet it would swap.

I can't seem to find that 2020 cam on the parts finders, but if it's not terribly expensive maybe just run to the dealer, buy one, and see if it fits.

I was able to find an on line H-D 2020 part book and there was a change in the axle and adjuster cam . The wheel bearings now also have an A at the end of the part number. Maybe a slightly different axle size?

Could someone post the new part number?  I'd like to run down and buy the new cam and put it on my 2011 Road King.

  Are we all forgetting about the other side that is a solid mount to the axle?  FSG's info is only the washer from the right left (fastener) side.

    I had the axle in from the wrong side after following the other thread on swapping axles around.

Pretty sure the cam on the right side is welded to the  axle so you'll  need it as well

and the axle will need to go in from the right side

Illustration shows the axle going in from the left side, that is how the axle is installed on my `19 FLHT

Note the torque has increased as well so if you install the new axle and cam, you will follow the 2020 torque spec.

I've had an issue with the rear axle and adjusters on my 2019 cvo.
The dealer replaced the swing arm, axle, bearings, wheel, and assorted parts (don't have my parts list with me).
There are new part numbers for most all these parts including swing arm.
If I recall the swing arm was about $999.00 and the wheel was about $700.? Total was about $3500.00.
Glad it was under warranty.

Thank you.  I ordered these two parts and going to try them out on my 2011 Road King.  I've never been happy with one cam touching the swing arm stop and the other not touching when tightening down the axle nut.  I've had to resort to clamping the axle forward on one side when tightening the nut to get both to touch.

just got the new 2020 rear axle torque sequences for new style axle:
1st torque 15-20 ft lbs
Final 135-145 ft lbs
The previous final was 95 to 105

Now I'm wondering what else might have changed to accept the extra torque pressure??

Or you could go this route. It will never move, and easy to install! And yes, they make one that fits the new bikes as well.
