I have a real bad squirrel problem and want to buy a powerful pellet gun
what do you recomend ?

~JC~

Be very careful, it's not always as simple as it seems.

I recommend sending in an expert.

:teeth:~JC~
If I had to understand, You wouldn't explain.

FATMAN

Crosman.  They make "pump" style pellet guns.  Use to also mfg a .22cal pellet gun and maybe still do.  I've got a .177 pellet version that can also fire BB's since it's the same bore.  Ten pumps (max) and it hits like a rifle within a decent range.
More to the picture than meets the eye.

still_havinfun

there are lots of good ones out there, my buddy has a Gamo brand break barrell and i shot it at a brand new 55 gal oil drum and it almost went through it. i think it comes out at 1100 fps. his doesn't have a scope and if you try to hit a running squirrel you couldn't get on target with a scope.

Crossmans 760 Pumpmaster   .177 cal and shoots both BB and pellets and can be had I think for under $50 at Wallyworld.....10 pumps and your in range at 25-50 yards I'd say....I've got 2 of them

I have the crossman BB/Pellet rifle also. I don't think it would kill a squirrel outright past 75 feet but it will wound him pretty good.

Beeman is quality stuff and works for me.  Might want to check the law before blasting those pesky varmints though.  Many tree rats are protected.  All of them around here are and the varmint police will bust ya...put your face in the news and throw ya in the pokey.

I have a Crossman Medalist 22 cal. 10 pump pellet pistol, it does hit pretty hard but won't kill anything much bigger than a pigeon at 40 ft. but it will keep cats from coming back after you hit them. If you really want a cheap, quiet and deadly small varmint gun get a .22 bolt action rifle and shoot Remington CB rounds. The CBs are subsonic and won't "crack" when shot, quieter than a pellet gun! If you use a .22 auto you will have to hold the bolt shut with your thumb or you will lose your stealth advantage, also they won't autoload as there isn't enough pressure with these rounds to cycle the action. Happy hunting!!

Unsalted peanuts in the shell are cheaper in the long run, once they are 7 years old they are considered "old squirrels", you can also pop popcorn for them and then place it were you want them to go. Then they will always go there. They can live for up to 25yrs, but, old ones will chase the young ones away becouse they don't want to move around much anymore,,,,soooo,,,,, feed the "old squirrels"

Oh, but don't feed them to much or you end up with one like our "old tubbie"   LOL

Compasseco Inc.,151 Atkinson Hill, Bardstown KY 40004 (1-800-726-1696) (www.compasseco.com) offers a great selection of air rifles and pistols from Tech Force, Gamo, RWS, Crosman, Beeman and Daisy. I have a Gamo Hunter 440S pellet rifle that shoots .177 pellets at over 1000 feet per second. Gamo is made in Spain, has a rifled barrel and a lifetime warranty. I think they make some of the best mid-price airguns on the market. I would recommend a pellet rifle over BBs for power and accuracy. Obviosly, a .177 pellet does not have long range power due to its lack of mass, but at 50-75 feet is extremely effective. I would not recommend a pellet or BB pistol for any hunting use.

I'll tell you what works for me... A regular Daisy pump BB gun, but instead of shooting BB's, I shoot the pellets that are the same bore.  Now, the big trick.  regular pellets have a flat face (target pellets) cause all they have to penetrae is the paper target, BUT, they also sell an arrowhead ( pointed triangle) head and that sucker will take out skunks and other small critters at a decent distance.  In fact, I feel they fly more accurate than a standard BB.  If you ever watched a BB in flight, they seem to move around quite a bit, but the pellets are dead on.  Once you know your workable distance, it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

For that kind of money you have bought a .22 and a 410 for those shake days. :hyst:

I have had a Sheridan Blue Streak for the past 36 years. It is a 5mm is very acurate and will get the job done. I have not had to do a thing to this gun since I owned  it other than lube it up once in a while. Yes they are still in production.

I use the Gamo Whisper  model       .177  pellets    ( silencer and scope ) , 3 coons  ,   1 possum  , 1 rabbit  and  all the squirls  that my neighbor can eat  . I like the silencer feature  , real quiet............bladerunner

Beeman for me. I bought it for the exact same reason. Had a squirrel that drove my dogs nuts, who in turn drove ME nuts!!! Have too many neighbors, so I wanted something extremely accurate, so I didnt hit any houses (or children) in the background.
First shot from 40 - 50 yards, and that ended that! Only bummer was that was my neighbors "pet" squirrel he had been hand feeding since it was a baby. Asked me a week later "Hey, you seen my pet squirrel, I havent seen it in a week?"       No, I aint seen your pet squirrel :smileo:   True story.....

RWS, Gamo - both good.
If noise is a factor stay at about 1000 FPS or slower... guns in the 1250 FPS range are quite loud.
Many people consider the RWS 34 to be one of the best deals in serious air guns.

I have an rws barrel break cocking. Its pretty good, adjustable trigger and good accuracy at its intended range but I don't shoot squrriels with it, I feed them sun flower seeds. I get 50lbs bags of the things at the farm service, they come when I shake a can full. Any way I have no doubt it would do the job though, it'll go through a piece of plywood at close range.

I'll never understand why people feed wild animals. There wild. Leave them alone. If they start depending on you for food and something happens that you can't feed them they will either force there way in or they will die. Especially if they were young when you first started feeding them.  Worse yet if you should have a party and the squirrel decides that food you put out is for them and not your guest and is willing to do battle over it. The humane society has more than enough animals for you to feed if you feel the need to feed animals. Plus you'll probably end up with one of the best friends you'll ever have in your life.
I was a home improvement contractor and a carpenter for quite a few years,(over 40) and trust me when I say I made allot of money do to the damage squirrels can do to a home. Everything from fires to digging holes in fascia boards and vents  to coming right through the roof to get in.  I wouldn't feed one of them any more than I would feed a rat. A squirrel is nothing more than a rat with a tail. I'm pretty lucky and I only have to pop one off every couple years. It seems most of the population in the neighborhood gets run over by cars coming down the street. Most of them if you leave them alone will not bother you, but every once in a while you will get one that can be aggressive towards your pets and children and then it's time to break out the air rifle.

I can also personally vouch for the Sheridan Pump Model.
It's a very powerful little sucker when you give it 10 pumps.
You ask how do I know? Back in 1957 I was hunting for just about anything that would move and I had my trusty Sheridan pumped up 10 times for the kill. I spooked out a Jack Rabbit from the bush, went to raise the gun up and mistakedly pulled the trigger and that little pellet went right through my little old cowboy boot and lodged itself in my right toe bone. So here I am, a 12 year old cowboy who had to limp home and tell the old man I had "shot myself in the foot"  :hyst:
So, years later I'm taking my Army draft physical and they ask me if my previously wounded toe impaired me in any way that would qualify me for 4F status. Being a testosterone charged young lad ,I said hell no, I'm 100%! That statement almost cost me the ability to return home and ride Harley Davidsons for 41 years so far.
So,if you all happen to shoot yourself in the foot, at least take advantage of your misfortune.

i just posted that link for an example , i ordered the gun through my local dealer 345.00 no shipping charges  I also  have a .410 & a .22 but i live in a quiet neighborhood in the city
and wouldn't be able to get away w/ shooting either one of those guns.so it's pretty much worth it to me.

I really like my Webley Beeman Tempest.  They're reasonably priced and surprisingly accurate.  My creatures haunting my yard have felt its final sting.  It's accurate enough to hunt squirrels and quiet enough to not scare them off for long.  Find a deer feeder and a 12 pack and your day is complete.

Hotbagger if your planning on putting a scope on that air rifle keep in mind that you should use an air rifle scope. The type of recoil you get from an air rifle will sometimes knock the crosshairs out in a standard rifle scope, I know it's hard to believe..... but it does happen.

Squirrels are fun to watch till they start tearing up your crap.  The squirrels that used to be at my house chewed up the edges of our plastic patio furniture and the motor cover on a brand new John Deere mower.  When they weren't chewing up my crap, the were lounging in the walls of the neighbors cedar sided house.  They gnawed a hole in a board, pull the insulation out and scattered it all over the yard.

With that said,  I have a Chinese TS-45 rifle that I bought 20 years ago.  It will pop a squirrels head out to about 25 yards.

CB caps outta a .22 rimfire will do the job and make next to no noise.  They aren't much more powerful than a .22 air rifle.

Squirrel...... nothing but a rat with a bushy tail.  If God wanted them protected, why did he invent BB guns? :hyst:

The RWS Diana 350 Magnum is an excellent choice. within it's workable range is will shoot smaller groups than a .22 long rifle. Less noise and cheaper to shoot. The break barrel type are a much better choice that the pump up guns.
