Which Clutch Basket...Evo Ind. or Barnett

I've been looking for a stronger clutch basket vs my stock one.
I've narrowed it down to two baskets so far. Either the Evo Ind. and a Barnett.
The Evo Ind. is made of forged 6061 hard anodized aluminum...were as the Barnett is made from forged 7075 hard anodized aluminum.
Any experiences with either of these clutch baskets would be appreciated.

the Evo Ind. lists for $670.61

I don't think you can go wrong with either Ray. I bought the Evo when I upgraded the factory clutch to the Barnett Scorpion setup. Main reason I picked the Evo was the 49 tooth option on the sprocket.

Which ones have been balanced the best. That would be my choice.

The Evo Ind. is a two piece design where as the Barnett is a one piece. I'm not sure if that matters or not. Do you think a one piece design has any advantages or disadvantages over a two piece design?
The Barnett is made out of 7075 aluminum vs the 6061 aluminum on the Evo Ind. basket...which here again I don't know if that matters or not. I'm no expert...but I always thought that 7075 aluminum was a little stronger than 6061.   :nix:
They both do look good to me Brian and I'm sure either one would be a smart upgrade over the stock basket I'm running.
The cost is no factor because they are both very close to each other.
I have already looked at the gearing calculator and if I went to the 49 tooth basket...it makes my gearing even lower...which I don't think I need it any lower. I'm leaning more towards staying with the 46 tooth basket.

I chose the evo 49 tooth basket because the ratio can be changed up with a rear sprocket (chain drive) if need be. The stuff I read (on the internet of course) claims the evo basket is one tough cookie and designed for the big power. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has been able to break one (or the Barnett) and what kind of power and tire combination it took to do so.   :potstir:

kd...I did run the gearing calculator and if I went to a 49 tooth basket my gear ratio would go even lower to 3.48 with my current 58 tooth rear sprocket I'm running. Right now with my 46 tooth basket I'm running a 3.27 ratio.
I do have a 54 tooth rear sprocket and with the 49 tooth basket it would give me a 3.36 ratio...which is a little lower than where I'm at now.
I'm having trouble keeping the front end down right now with the 3.27 ratio...so going lower isn't an option I'm looking for.

MY Evo. basket is a pretty nice piece. I went 49 on it because of my 30 tooth engine sprocket. That lets me add teeth to the rear drive if I want to. I was at 2.94 and now at 3.13 and am liking it much better.
This will get my street rpms in 2nd and 3rd gear about perfect for my cams and trap speed/rpms are right about there as well.

Does anybody else think that those baskets in the pics look exactly the same?  The basket is one piece but there is more than one piece to the assy.  The ring gear bolts to the hub in both.

Ray, Evo sells a stock 46 tooth basket as well. he 49 tooth is an option, and requires a longer primary chain. The one you priced at $670.61 I'm sure is the 46 tooth. The 49 tooth comes with a new chain, and is priced higher as a set.

I added the 46 tooth, it is the $670.61, the 49 tooth is $728.52.

I know what your saying Jason.
They both look the same to me also in the pictures I got from their web sites. I'm not really following what Evo Ind. is saying when they call theirs a two piece design   :nix:
I'm leaning more towards the Barnett unit because of the 7075 aluminum used in their forging.

EVO makes the AIM basket so it wouldn't surprise me if they make the Barnett as well. Call EVO and talk to Nacho, he will fill you in. I went with the EVO 49t. Very nice piece!!

someone posted last week that Nacho doesn't work for Evo Ind. any longer...I think it was Steve from GMR that said it.   :nix:
C-Cat...this clutch basket from Evo Ind. was the only one I could find on their web site for my 2008 FLHX...choices were either a 46 or 49 tooth.

 I found this one too.
AIM has a clutch basket that is made out of 6061 forged aluminum that is hard anodized also...and they are calling it a two piece also
It looks the exact same as the Barnett and Evo Ind. units.
AIM wants an extra hundred dollars for theirs though.

Page 4 has the one piece basket, around page 11 for the 2 piece. One piece is 7075 two piece 6061 anodized aluminum. I have the one piece 49 tooth basket.

thanks there C-Cat.
It looks like to get their one piece clutch basket (which is made of 7075 aluminum) is to buy their complete clutch kit with it.
I wasn't looking to buy a clutch kit...just the basket.
I wonder why they don't offer their one piece basket in 7075 aluminum sold separately?

I'll tell you this since material science was my major.
7075 is a harder form of aluminum.
It will deform less at extreme temps.
Would you notice it vs the other in an application such as a clutch basket?
Most likely not with the hard anodizing that is done.
For all out racing, I would go with the 7075 just to insure the chance of warping would be less.
For street, it's what the best cost would be for you.

I got the one piece because it's lighter, and I did  purchase the entire clutch/w basket.

I saw the sheets for wot power with blower and with n2o and blower never saw a gear ratio graph . You got a link to it ?

No ...but getting it to hold 302 hp to even make a graph is good .
