I'm real curious now also.  Received my speaker boxes for the lowers on my '14 Ultra along with my BikeTronics stuff.

I've been scared to even attempt to do this install until something gets figured out.  Would really hate to have the bike completely torn apart to install to find out that the BikeTronics won't perform as advertised and I've spent a ton of money on it.

If you have a 15 RG. I can tell you that the 4180 and the 62.11i's on mine rock. Even without treble and base control it sounds 1000* better than stock. My buddies riding in front of me that are on Dynas tell me they can hear my stereo while they are in front of me. You wont be disappointed from what you have (Stock) going to the BT equipment. Just my .02

that was me they heard, not you LMAO....

Oh yeah I forgot..You were in the back!!! :hyst: :hyst:

I did some testing the last couple days and have a write up in the audio section on the other forum titled "2014 SGS Magic Box Testing".

Thought maybe it would help with "The Project"

shagyluke

how about coping and pasting it here on the forum so we don't have to go looking for it???? I can tell you without reading it that I'm really not interested in using a magic box on my bike.. Thats just me and others might have different views.

**UPDATE**

Today I installed the speakers on the outside of the pods, just like stock, and tested with and without the magic box, and also tested with and without the pods all together.....

I never would have thought it, but it is MUCH better with the speakers on the outside! Much more fullness and no more hollowness. Before they sounded like they were in a box, not anymore! Above poster is correct, night and day difference!

In my opinion, the pods work. I had one speaker mounted to the pod and had a helper hold the other in the free air up the the speaker opening and there was way more sound and fullness with the pod. Granted, having the fairing back on and maybe some polyfill wrapped on the open air speaker would probably help, but I really think the pod helps, at least with the Kappas. A higher quality speaker and amp combo could change that...

Once I determined I wanted the speakers back in the stock location I then started testing the magic box. This was a very tough call, but I would say it's still better with the box.

Without the magic box gains above 6 things start to get garbled, and I couldn't turn it up quite as loud. Put the box back in and the gain can go back up to 9, and I can go louder and turn the bass up. Seems like the box filters out the real low boomy bass.

I am now running without grills so I have been playing with the +3 db on the tweeters. That seems to change with song selection so that's still up in the air.

I didn't do any road testing so all my results are with the bike off and in the garage.

I would say I am now very close to my friend's 13 Ultra with same equipment. Now I want to get them side by side. The weather is supposed to be shitty the next week so I am going to start installing the reduced reach bars so that and some road testing will have to wait.

no update yet.  Still waiting on the damn grills..

OKay, well maybe I am confused as to what you are researching and trying to find out. I was under the impression that you were going to be trying to figure out something on the flash and update side of the aftermarket install's. Grills really have no barring on that. If you don't mind? what exactly are you trying to get accomplished with this?

Thanks

not doing the install until I have everything in hand.  Don't think Left would be too pleased if he came all the way over here and I sent him home with holes in his fairing.

going to setup low level inputs to the amp with a bandpass filter in the mix.

I did another small test today.  I connected my laptop directly to the amp using a 3.5mm to RCA cable to completely eliminate the head unit.  It sounded horrible, very flat.  Not sure why.  Too low of voltage on the RCA's?  I was using windows media player and even played with the EQ settings.... no help.  :nix:

Might have been too low, I've used a 3.5 to RCA from an iPhone direct in and made sure the the headphone volume was on max and it sounded fantastic streaming pandora and playing from iTunes. This is why I know my problem is these head units

I have tried alot of flash combinations and so far the best I can come up with is amp 1&2 on 8 speakers .when you get it tuned it doesn't sound half bad but it is still liking what the 2012 could do riding. .never had any trouble hearing that one..4 on the volume scale is like 8 on this new one..its like the radio is not pushing the same power..set my amps with the volt meter. 3/4 volume would not get me my voltage even with amp full on.2012 bike 3/4 volume amp 2 o'clock. guess I can just turn it up more on the scale before clipping
