Trailer for two twin cam bikes

       I  want to buy an enclosed trailer that I can transport two Electraglide Classics
with tour paks on both, to places like Daytona and/or Sturgis.  What size (length
and width) would you recommend to be able to haul these bikes nearly side by side
with one setback only about a foot from the other so they don't hit one another
on the trip. You guys must know what works well .  Thanks

7' wide would be better hauling 2 with fairings and tour-paks.

:agree: I have used both 6' and 7' ,BUT that x-tra foot is really nice..

7 X 12 is the smallest I would buy, especially if they are 09 or newer baggers. With the wider rear ends it is pretty tight with the crash bar on the second one in missing the saddle bags of the other. I set up mine 6 inches from the front wall and 2 inches to the side. The other is 6 inches from the rear and 2 inches to the other side. A 14 footer may allow you to keep the second one back far enough to not have the crash bar and saddle bag clearance problems. Then possibly 6 foot wide would be enough.
  If I can find them I have pics of 2 batwings loaded in my 7 X12.  I would email them to you as I dont know how to block out plate numbers, so I wouldn't want to post them here.

I use a 6X10 to escape the north with 2 Dynas and it's tight...I notice the walls are getting dinged by the ends of the levers, too...

I know that my 6x12 will hold my EGC and her 1500 Vulcan classic, (Heritage wanna be) she has leather bags on hers. Staggered I can side step between them but my shins drag on both bikes when I do. I'd say at least a 7x12 and I would look for a dual axle. Those singles just bounce to much.

I have put 2 baggers on my 6x12 but had to stagger them and it was quite a load for that size trailer. 7x12 or 7.5x12 much better.

Get a short piece of channel wide enough for the rear tires secured to the floor, have seen the back ends shift on rough road from the bounce and then one bike makes contact with he other.

Even at 7' you have to stagger them. The Baggers are a minimum of 48" wide. They're 8' long each. The 7x12 will provide ample space and a tandem axle which is much nicer to tow and electric brakes as well.

We just did Sturgis with 2 EG in a 6x12 with all our gear for 2 couples. Fit fine, did not touch the wall or each other. We used that one because thats what he had but If your buying one a little extra room doesn't hurt.

A 7x14 would be great with Condor chock or if you wanted to go cheaper a Harbor Freight chock similar to the Condor with E track down the center and both sides. You would be able to hold both bikes down so they wouldn't move no matter how rough or bouncy the road would be. I have a 6x12 with the Condor and E track and there is no way the bike moves. One thing I liked about the Condor is that I had to take my friends BMW down South for him and there was no way to tie down the front end because of all the plastic. Took one of the Harley shipping straps and went around the front tire and Condor mount. The bike never moved in 500 miles.
One thing when you tie down the front end. Some guys like to compress the front forks, I don't. I put a soft strap around where the front fender attaches to the fork and then ratchet it tight. My friend doesn't and it seems no matter how compressed the forks are he always manages to scrape the front fairing since he's carrying two bikes and is very close to the side. Just something to think about.

that toy hauler is pretty cool. as one poster pointed out be sure to tie down the rear ends. I always loop some soft-ties thru rear wheels and tie off to the side. I and most of my riding buddies bought those fork mounted tie down brackets that kuryakin sells. they look good and make for easy hook up when loading. I have a cpl. of those detacheable ride-in chocks that I can mount in alternate spots for hauling 1 or hauling 2 bikes. I only trailer once or twice a year but my 6x12 trailer is setup to make it an easy process. I have a 2 piece folding ramp that is only about 2' tall when closed so less wind drag. I only trailer as a last resort so I dont have much money in the whole thing..maybe 1500$ counting straps and retractable tie-downs and spare tire and small storage box at the front..

I don't use the wheel chocks as you can see I have tracks and d-rings, and ratchet straps I tie down with. It works well for me and the bikes don't move.

That IS a sweet trailer! It is simular to how my buddy set his 6x12 up, minus the pop-out and he did add a/c and solar panals on top, double insulated the walls and built in microwave. His total cost was about $3700.

Some people are not able to ride the distance, but are good for a few miles. Personally, I can ride 800 mile days back to back, but I can understand why some people are not able or willing. In a few years I am not sure I will be willing to ride like I do now.

I have a good friend that rides all over, but his wife refuses to ride more that a couple hours. His choice is to trailer, or ride alone. He enjoys his wife's company enough to trailer the bike so they can ride when they get there.
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

What ever you buy don't paste it full of HD stickers that is like putting a big target on it for the crooks. I know more than one person that had there trailer locked to their truck with the hitch locked and the draw bar locked in the receiver and come out in the morning to find the trailer gone and the truck still sitting there.

You can add me to that list, except mine was an open trailer and it was gone before 10:00 PM. :cry:
