Jim,
I use both those bridges plus the Delaware Memorial. They don't automatically give you a discount for using a EZPass unless you sign up for the discount plans. You do that online, no charge.  You just need to make X amount of trips per month so if you are using them everyday then you save. I think it works out to 4 a trip. On the ACE, instead of paying 75 cents at exit 33, I pay 42. The Egg Harbor Toll instead of 2 bucks is one. But yoy need go online and ask to be enrolled in the savings plans.

I have it mounted inside the road glide fairing, sits above the radio, just make sure you pay attention to the arrows on which side is top/bottom etc... works everytime... of course this was in NH with a ez-pass....

Have not looked into the sunpass yet, just moved to FL in September....

I just put it in my windshield bag works fine, guy at work keeps his in glove box in car

+2 on mounting it inside the saddlebag lid, works great, just remember to ride under the sensor with the correct saddlebag so the transponder can be read.   :koolaid4:  Going over the Whitestone bridge, or any of the NYC bridges with gates, sometimes work, sometimes not.  Try explaining the stop to get the damn thing out of your saddlebag while talking to the nice Transit Cop while listening to the horns from the angry car drivers at rush hour.  Only in NYC.

I plan on mounting it to the left underside of the faring cubby cover/lid.  So when i go through the tolls i just open the cover.
Keep the shiny side up, and the rubber side down

So they transmit fine through the fairing plastic when installed inside?  Had mine in windshield bag, so I know it will transmit through the thin leather and plastic/acrylic windshield. I was going to try tourpac, that way I could pull it out if needed easy enough, but up front makes more sense for tripping the light. I don't know why, but I thought the glass would be easy for a windshield on a car, but on the seat or in a glovebox it wouldn't hit because too much material to receive through. They cant be too strong or they would hit the sensors in the lanes next to you so figure it had to be a weak signal.
Just asking as I got 5 months to figure it out with the snow hitting last night.

I have the Illinois I-Pass and it works anywhere. Mine is in the tour pak lid organizer. Been working there fine for the last 7 or 8 years.
And even if it didn't work a couple time, I'm still OK because my bike and cars are registered. A lot of times I do not have my I-Pass with me but the toll is still credited on my account.

2005 Ultra.  I mounted mine (D-FW, TX) on the inside top of my fairing (just below the windshield).  Its been there for years with no problem of reading it through the fairing plastic.  The instructions coming with it stated not to place it on the bottom of the windshield of a car because it is too close to the radio - which might cause interference.  That's the reason I didn't want to mount it to the top of my radio.  I just pealed the protection off and stuck it to the underside of the fairing, just like you would to the underside of your windshield.  With NTTA (North Texas Transit Authority) a replacement toll tag is free, so I wasn't worried about mounting it where I could remove it and place it on another motorcycle.  I will remove it if I ever sell the bike.

On my FLH I leave my transponder inside the tourpac lid pouch. Works even when I have a bag on top of the tourpac rack. On the Dyna I just throw it in the saddlebag. It also works every time.

Mine is inside the batwing on my FLHXS.  Just Over the headlight.  Works great.

The reason I don't put it under the fairing or any unacceptable place is so I can move it to my other vehicles. It's nice to know others can afford multiple transponders.

I have had mine mounted under the fairing on top of the radio for 2 years no problem.

I have my NY EZpass in a windshield bag, works about half the time, these new smaller transponders stink. Friend has his in the same spot and never has a problem. For me, it didn't work in the left rear saddlebag.

It makes perfect sense that the pass would work from the inside of the tour-pak lid, as the plastic lid is pretty much the same to RF as the glass windshield of a car. The one thing I'd be concerned about is the angle--while I haven't taken one apart, I suspect the antenna's location is based on about a 30-50 degree angle to the horizontal. It should also be at least a few inches away from any large pieces of metal, which can damp the signal.

The first time I was on the Ill-Annoy Tollway without our I-Pass (coming back from Canada), I stopped at the cash lane. The nice lady told me that because I was in the cash lane I'd have to pay the cash price (twice the I-Pass price!), but at the next booth I should just run through the "open road" transponder lane and let the camera read my plate.

Which, of course, raises the question: if the system can just read your plate number, why do they bother with the transponders?

:idunno: Takes man hours to look at the pictures but the computer does all the work with E-ZPass?

My understanding of why they don't want you to use the car EZ Pass on your bike goes to counting vehicle miles usage. Discussion about how to more accurately tax road usage/ wear & tear is based on figuring how to determine the actual vehicle used. Plus Pa does give a discount for motorcycles. EVEN IF YOU ARE PULLING A TRAILER! If they charge you high rate for the trailor pay it then call ABATE of Pa to get info on how to get your money back. That is unless you have time to sit and wait for a state patrol man to come explain the rules to someone's relative working in the toll booth.

I guess for the guy that gets to ride every day, and part of that ride happens to be on PA road or bridge that gets a discount, it may be worth the extra money tied up by having the extra EZ Pass.  In my case it would be the cost of 2 extra, at $75 per pass plus the 2 I have for the 2 cars ( wifes car & bike + my car and bike). I don't feel the burning need to let PA "hold" $300 of mine when I can get away with letting them "hold" $150.  For the few times I have to pay the EZ Pass rate for the bike using a car transponder, it's worth it not to wait in a cash line.

Have a pass for few years,  use to carry it in the jacket.  now I don't even take it with me, they take picture of the license plate when I go thru the tolls and charge my account.  all my  buddies that ride with me do the same thing.   :nix:

I wonder how they handle out of state plates?]

I have 3 transponders and I only keep an average of 30 to 40 dollars in my account. I always do the manual transfer when I need to bring it up a bit or before a long trip where I will use it. I could care less about the low balance warning. I know what is in my account. When I was running the ACE every day for a job in Atlantic City  they did a auto refurb once and the I turned that feature off. It is ridiculous what they want the balance to be.

apes, in Canada they send you a bill, in the states it comes out of my account balance on my I-Pass.
I only have 1 transponder and it works for as many vehicles as I tell them I have. I only use it when I ride with a group so I can stay with them and not have to stop.
I only keep the minimum $40 in the account.

It was years before I even got one. I thought there was a monthly fee like a cell phone.

Well good for you. Glad you live where you have no toll roads or bridges. For now anyway. Tolls are not collected on every day run of the mill roads around here. We have non toll bridges if you want to go 40 miles out of your way. Don't need to be somewhere 4 ours sooner? Take a few of the other roads. Like traffic jams? Take a freebie and heat that mill up.  Toll road are what they are. And no matter how you slice it and dice it, your paying. Some just pay more, some less. But your paying and that makes you a pay to ride folk too.
