So after much pondering I am going to upgrade the cams in my 2015 Tri-Glide, per their advice I'm gonna drop a set of the574's in there. All feed back welcome.

TorQuePimp

If you are planning on using that cam as a bolt in

Consider something else

Not a torque curve/seat of the trousers you'll want with a triglide

Comp 3101/4101
Andrews 48

Well the 514's were recommended previously by a friend but after speaking with the folks that make the cams the latter was suggested. It's pretty low geared already so I didn't so much want a "bottom end" cam as I'm usually at 3200 rpm and above at highway speed.

Hilly13

Fair point on the gearing, I only considered the weight of the trike when I first read it.
Just because its said don't make it so

3200 is about where that came from would start working
Any of the cams I mentioned work well from 2000-4500
Don't know how you ride but I doubt it will see much more than that on a regular basis

Hilly13

Well he did say 3200 and up, not everyone clicks up early, I know I don't unless I'm in town, noise, pr an all that.

I used to be on a Street Glide with a 106" that bike I routinely ran in the 2500-3500 range, but this 103 is really smooth up to 4500 rpm and although the Tri-Glide is 400 plus lbs heavier it does pull really well. With that said, I have a disease  that FORCE'S me to mess with stuff and I like hot rods so........

So I have the engine all buttoned up,the valve train is nice and quite(added the axtell oil bypass) the thing is with the map dynojet gave me for a starting point it idles in the 40Kpa range is this normal? other than tht it seems like it's going to work out well.

Sorry, can't help with the problem,  but keen to see how the cams worked out for you in the end. Post up your final thoughts.  👍

Well I must admit at this point Tourqpimp was right, Rivas shows some impressive Dyno numbers for a stock 103" but I'm not feeling the power. I'm going to wait to hear back from Dyno jet and do a little more tuning before pulling them out but so far I'm not digging it!

So of the three Wich one would be your choice? After riding the bike it seems you were right.

How about the CR 570-2?

These seem to be any absolute winner of a TQ cam with a great curve.

Just on a side note slightly of topic,  what would you guys suggest this cam would need to shift the curve toward the right,  enabling it to build TQ a little later and carry on pulling further up the top end?

Headwork?  Compression?  Or a different cam like maybe the CR575?

Thanks.

drop on a 110" and set the compression for the cams then tune it

OK, I'm not giving up on these cams I just ordered a Target Tune from Fuelmoto and I'll proceed from there. I'm convinced the issues I'm having are do to tuning, there are other cams out there that perform well in the 194ish ccp range and if Rivas can get 113 to and 103 HP out of these cams on an otherwise stock motor I should be able to get a noticeable gain over the stock 103HO cams.

I am not saying this is the cam I would pick for a tri glide but you can't tell anything about any cam without tuning and if you change cams later you can get a base line for the next cam too.

Due to a different exhaust design in a Tri- and other parasitic losses through the change in driveline because its a Tri-, those 103 hp numbers won't be there and that's only a max number anyway. Tq off the bottom is whats gets this thing moving...where does it build this 113tq? Which, again won't be as high on a Tri-...my $.02. I looked at this cam for my Ltd, as a friend of mine runs a 584 version from Chris Rivas...just wasn't sure it would fill the bill

  Good advice IMO.
Andrews 48 and CR 570-2  have been suggested as great TQ cams, might be worth looking into either of these?

Hossamania

The 48 was offered in the very first response to OP's post. Heed this advice.

Believe me I am seriously looking at that cam as a replacement.

Thank you.

Harley Pilot

OK so I'll take my lumps, just ordered a set of Andrews TW48 cams and I will be replacing the Rivas before I have to buy all new parts to go with them. Thanks for all the input it is appreciated.

Good advice, tough to beat a 3101 in a 103 trike setup.
If you don't have a sense of humor you probably have no sense at all.

Harley Pilot

UPDATE: So the 574's have been replaced with a set of Andrews 48's,plus the addition of a Target Tune module and all is good!! (For now :SM:) Thanks to all for the advice and help, and to the crew at Fuel Moto!!! :scoot:

I was hopping to see you use the C R 574 cams. I have a set and wanted to see how they work out for you.  Any one running the C R Rocket 574 cams? If so how do you like them?
Just do it while you can.

He did use them. They did not work the way he needed them to work in his TriGlide. They did not make enough torque down low for his needs. That's the reason he switched to the 48s.
Read through this thread, you will find advice on how to set up the 574s.

He did try them earlier in this thread.

Yeah they didn't work for me but I have a 1200 lb bike, I'm not a tech and it's been awhile since I have stayed at a Holiday Inn. They might work great if you account for the compression loss but with a heavy bike like mine I don't see how you can make any gains if you're going to give up compression! The Andrew's 48's fit the bill for my Tri-Glide,and with the addition of the Target Tune I'm grinnin'.

Gerry Smith

where did they come in hard pulling? (RPMs) The 574 is advertised as a torque cam. Would you call them junk? Why do you say compression loss?
Just do it while you can.

Gerry Smith

Is your trike a twin cooled bike? i was thinking they are all twin cooled.

Is a dog down low with 240* and a 38 close?

edit:

Dang, I just looked, I guess it is a big cam compared to the 48 and it's 29 close.

Nope I wouldn't call them junk, compression loss because the IVC is 38 and stock is 30 deg. Add to that the Tri Glde is 400lbs heavier than a bagger, sooo no bueno for me!

Yep twin cooled, advertised as 10:1 compression.

so 10.5:1 would be better? Or to much?

I would check out the big boys caculator, I'm not a Tech by any means but wouldn't think taking a hit on corrected compression could be of benefit.

Hilly13

A good tune at 10.5 with the 574's would be ok, wouldn't squeeze them much harder than that though, in a lighter bike even at 10.2 they would be fine, I've put 37's in streetglides at as bolt in and tuned them, so 9.8ish, owners are happy, it depends a lot on how you ride, gears and revs, if you are a lugger short cams are the bomb.
