Anyone do a build with these?  Results please.What CR, details.  Know there is some woods haters here, but I am not one of them.  The tw 6-6s i ran in my last scoot were set up at 10.3:1.  The TW-555 appears to be a high lift tw6-6s with suttle changes.

This will be going in a 103 with someones head work- undecided on who.

Scott, I see you have had some expirience with the andrews tw55's.  how does the woods 555 compare to the tw55's with a 30 tooth trans pulley?

That 555 likes 10.5-10.55.

I used the 555's in my 107...set compression @ 10.6..203lbs ccp..113 hp and 123 tq..pulls off the bottom like the 255's that came out...and gets 41mpg riding 2 up...No ping..very happy with the results..

EVO, seems like your 107 is exactly what I am looking for. If I can get 107 HP and 115 of torque out of the 103 I will be happy, hows the Valve train noise? I do like the MPG.  What exhaust are you using?  I am getting ready to install the 2-1-2 head pipe from Jamie at fuel moto, with a set of 4" jackpot mufflers. Seen some great results with his head pipe!

Head porter recommendations welcomed. Been using Bean at bigboys for several years and several scoots but willing try someone new/different.

You'll want a head with strong mid-lift numbers, that roll up about 160 cfm @ 10", at .600 lift.

Thanks for the head tip, with the III nickle cams.  I am assuming you had to relieve the intake/exhaust pockets on the pistons?

On an "as cast" 103" piston, yes.
We use a 2" end mill, in one of the vertical mills, with the piston fixtured in a vice.
We don't have to do much of that, these days, as most builds are either 98", or 107"ers with our Wiseco's that have 2.100" reliefs.

Again Scott, appreciate the tip!  Being that this a a factory 103, not sure it would be worth it to take her to a 107 and use wiseco.  Last three scoots I have built I used a die grinder-steady hand-worked for me!

Is the 555 a typical woods VT noise cam?

The typical Wood cam noise is associated with many things.
Oil viscosity, oil pressure, incorrect pushrod adjustment for the application, etc.
Hell, just installed a Wood 9B in an early silent-chain application yesterday, with the new "C" lifters. Loaded the lifter to .150" with 50W Cen-Pe-Co, and it NEVER made 1 tick.
Test drove 12 miles, and dyno tuned it as well.
You'd never believe that cam was in there.
To answer the question about the 555..........no noise.

That are many great cams out there do not require you to pay for a name.  Attention to details is what makes great results with any build!

I would be one of woods haters & I again want to clarify my position. Do the woods cams make good power absolutely! Are the woods cams worth nearly double the cost absolutely NOT!  Do most woods cams make noise absolutely!

Pull the hood off your car/truck, have your 'ol lady, drive you down the road at 60 mph, while straddling the engine compartment.
You'll be pulling into your local auto dealer ASAP, as you will for sure think the sky is falling.

05- that woods hater comment was intend for you.  Knew you would chime in as you have on every woods cam post I have every done.  Thanks for not letting me down. As far as money goes-thanks for caring  As EJK Dyna put it

The first 500rpm of the dyno run from 2300-2800 rpm is dyno spool up so you can't draw any conclusions from that. 

These are low-mid range cams so the meat of the power curve is 3000-5000 rpm.  The 555 is clearly stronger throughout the heart of the power curve...especially in the 3500-4000 rpm range.  The increased area under the curve is significant.

The 54 does carry hp out further but it is on the dying end of the power curve where you wouldn't want to be much under any circumstances.

Now if you are going to say that the run to run variation inherent in a dyno could account for the difference...I will bet that every single run that Brian has with the 2 cams during the back to back tuning process shows the same spread in tq from 3,000-5,000 with the 555 always on top.

Dennis- yeah that build and other is what is making me gravitate to the triple nickle cams.  Might get locked up on Post

some body is selling a tw555 and se pushrods for $250 over on roadkingriders.com

The 555's are great cams, not as noisy as some but hardly worth the extra money when you can get the same performance from a set of 54's, If you can get a good deal on the used woods, go for it.  If not, spend the money saved for some additional upgrades.

I like the specs for the T-Man torqster 555's with the 37* intake valve closing.

I tuned a 96" not long ago with just the 555, bosscat and tts and was quite impressed. 97hp/101tq sae. Have used the 555 in many 103's but never tried it by itself in a 96"

Got a 103 with 555 cams tts and fat cat in today for a tune.  Customer out of Iowa.

The tw555's are dead quiet in mine...

I will post up the sheet in dyno section ( 2011 RK TTS tuner)  but the engine made 88 hp and 103 tq with tq breaking the 100 mark at 3400 rpm. Bike has the factory 103 kit with ss tuned runner and the fat cat ex along with 555 cams. CCP is coming in at 185Front 186 Rear so the engine is right at 9.9.1 compression from factory.  Overall bike runs fine cams are not loud at all in this bike. Had to play with timing a large amount to stop ping under hard throttle.

Not bad at all, for a box stocker with cam , pipe a/c.. this really shows how poorly the stock heads flow.

Rather that compare to a TW6 think of the 555 as a lobe center changed Andews 54 

Don't understand the ping at 5K altitude. AZ must really be hurting for octane. Of course there is the associated MAP pressure change with the baro change and that could put the timing in ranges that are not typically seen under the same riding conditions at sea level.

Don, the biggest thing we see with other tunes is that most never take into account the kpa load a bike will ONLY see at high elevation, the guys tune the bikes but never stop to think that on a heavy roll on that a basic bike will only see 80 something KPA, thus you end up with tuned bikes with 35+  timing ... they PING!!! The entire timing map moves to the left , so it needs to be looked at.  As long as the customer has his map the changes take very little time at all, customer is back on the road, for the most part. This bike had been tuned several times at two locations from what I under stood, the map was kinda, sorta in the ball park..  As for the fuel the customer is from Iowa and he stated that we have better fuel than he has been getting 

As Scott says,, compression negates a multitude of sins.. aud Steve says they suck..  If you want the 555s to work in the 103 gets some heads done by someone that puts em on a flow bench...  Max
