Well after a few issues with trying the 107" I gave up and sent my cases off to Kirby for a mild and hopefully bullet proof 124" My goal isnt gobs of power and a full potential 150hp club build but a daily driver 100k build. Compression under 11-1 and only a 585 cam. All S&S internals except the pump. I do not want to have to open her up for a few years! The only weak link I see is the comp but nothing can be done with that for now. Hopefully all the weak links in the powertrain have been addressed. I just rebuilt the tranny, Sportsman clutch, Baker adjuster, gen III comp, and new belt. I probably wont see it at my door for another month or a tad more. Even a low HP 124" should be ample for my needs. The 107" was more than enough power except I thought headwork would have made the responsiveness better. Only bummer is S&S doesnt have an all black cyl yet unless custom ordered. Only foreseeable issue is finding a canned map for this build with the PV so I can buy the auto tune add on. If no canned map can be found I will have to decide on a dyno tuner.

I went with your thoughts on mine. I couldnt be happier. I do suggest a good dyno tune to develope an adequate map though.. ENJOY!

Ill probably do that but finding a good dyno guy is the hard part. Ill probably have to tow it 4 hours in one of three directions to find one.

I'd be surprised if DynoJet, FuelMoto, or S&S (S&S recommends the PV) does not have a good startup map for the 124...

Your criteria for the 124 (longevity) is the same as mine for my 117.

They have a map for the fly by wire 124". Mine is cable. Im sure Kirby will come up with something though. Either way its a small issue.

Your next putts!

No $$$. And if I had the money I'd learn from you and skip all the dicking around and go straight for the S&S 124" crate motor!

They dont have a B motor in silver and Star option puts me about 2k more than where ill be with this one. I still get a 1 year warranty though!

Neither S&S nor DJ could provide a decent base map the PV last year when I had my build done.

'Using the PC-V / Auto on the '09SERG 117, neither DJ or FM had maps for the '09 ECM for me. Oasis Cycles in Brandon, MS loaded a spot-on map for me in less time than it took me to type this...

Ed`s old bike.124",110 heads (302@28" at .650"),RS .647 cams,11.3-1,58mm S&S t. body,ultima 6 speed (add a .250 spacer on the shift shaft and a early trans fits right in a late TC $650.00 compaired to 2000.00 for a baker) should be fun

Nice timing cover plate! Having a 124 stuffed in my nasty old cases will make it somewhat of a sleeper. No show and some go.

Prodrag, that was some fine engine eye-candy in your links the first time I opened it. After a quick scan I went back to ogle it in depth and it was gone. :nix: Just the 2 pics left.

deathwish

My '04 Softail with the B engine got one of the first 124 kits for stock stud pattern. 64,000 miles and running fine. Reduced the compression to 10.5/1, runs the IST ignition and 87 octane. Still runs 11.30's with an old man in the seat. I have 2 bikes so it only gets half the miles.

Soft 02

Thats great to hear DeathWish! That would be 3 years of trouble free ridin for me. Sounds like heaven!
